The castle church in Lahm im Itzgrund houses one of the most valuable examples of Central German organ building in European culture: the organ built by Heinrich Gottlieb Herbst. It is believed that Johann Lorenz Bach, a nephew of Johann Sebastian Bach who worked as a cantor in Lahm, incorporated Johann Sebastian Bach's preferences and experiences into the Lahm organ. The series of Lahm concerts featuring renowned performers has been under the artistic supervision of the university for many years, with Prof. Lucas Pohle currently in charge.
Unfortunately, this unique instrument is now threatened by decay and is in urgent need of restoration. The necessary funds are to be raised through a large-scale fundraising campaign, which is being sponsored by former regional bishop Dr Heinrich Bedford-Strohm. Would you like to help?
