The postgraduate programme comprises the following Master's programmes:

Protestant church music

Master of Music

This church music programme, which is at the heart of the Master's degree courses, offers students the opportunity to go beyond the classical range of subjects and to set their own priorities in line with their own inclinations and interests within the framework of various intensive modules. The aim is to train independent musical personalities who can contribute a wide range of skills both in liturgical and worship services and on the concert stage.

It is also open to applicants who do not have a previous degree in church music.

Instrumental/vocal teaching

Master of Music

This educational degree programme is divided into the fields of piano, organ and voice training, which share a common module and study structure. In each core area, the focus of the training is on the further development of artistic personality. Disciplines of musical interaction (song accompaniment, chamber music, ensemble, etc.) also play an important role here.

The second focus of the programme is on various aspects of music education in theory and practice.

Instrumental/vocal music direction

Master of Music

This degree programme with the following fields of study

  • choir conducting
  • children's and youth choir conducting
  • wind choir conducting and
  • Ensemble Conducting/Popular Music

offers the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in specific areas, particularly from the Bachelor's degree programmes in Protestant Church Music and Conducting/Choir Conducting, and to further develop these skills with a view to future employability for specific job profiles. Geared towards the requirements of the respective core area, the training focuses on deepening conducting skills, imparting knowledge of performance practice relevant to the field of study, and building a characteristic repertoire. In addition, there are additional instrumental and vocal qualifications that are intended to broaden the artistic spectrum and provide a broad basis.

Artistic organ playing

Master of Music

Within this artistic degree programme, which focuses on

  • literary play and
  • improvisation

, the focus of the training is on developing a broad organ repertoire or various improvisation techniques, depending on the field of study. The aim is to train individual artistic personalities who can realise their own musical ideas at a high level. In instrumental practical subjects, further in-depth knowledge is imparted, which accordingly broadens the future professional field. Theoretical, performance-related and music-conceptual courses round off the overall picture.
